Craft from Bali

Our sarongs and pareos — made on Bali, chosen together with Putu.

On Bali, a sarong is not a souvenir but simply clothing. You wear it to the temple, on the beach, at home. That versatility is exactly what we want to bring to Europe.

Where they are made

Our sarongs come from a workshop on Bali we work with through Putu[: WORKSHOP NAME — only with permission]. We know the people who make them and visit the workshop ourselves.

The material

Our sarongs are 100% viscose. Viscose is light, drapes softly and dries quickly — ideal for warm days and for travel. Viscose is not silk, and we say so plainly.

The motifs

We choose motifs that belong to Bali but may also be worn on a garment. Some images carry a sacred meaning on Bali; we leave those alone or only use them when Putu says it is appropriate. The first collection includes:

  • Elephant
  • Tropical flowers and leaves
  • Sea turtle

We also make plain sarongs in calm colours, for those who prefer something timeless.

One cloth, many ways

An XXL sarong can be worn as a wrap skirt, a dress or a shawl, or used as a light beach throw. With a coconut-shell sarong clip [coming soon] it stays in place without a knot.
